Travel Essentials | What To Pack For A Weekend Away

Complete packing guide for a city break or weekend away

So, I'm currently preparing for a trip to New York and thought it would be an ideal time to put together an edit of my favourite travel essentials (and not so essential, but nice to haves) for a weekend away.  Being March, I need to be prepared for any weather that New York might throw at me, so this list might be a little more extensive than your typical summer holiday.

In terms of hair care, I recommend taking Joico away with you. It has literally changed my hair. I was using cheap hair products for a while, but since investing in good quality hair products, my hair has become so much stronger and I have less split ends. Most people haven't heard of Joico, but Jake's aunt recommended it to me when I was in her salon and I haven't looked back. I use the leave in moisture spray and protect and shine serum when I get out the shower and it keeps my hair moisturized and less frizzy.

If your hair is dry and heat damaged I recommend using the K-Pak shampoo and conditioner (which was the first set I tried out). The K-Pak set is great for putting protein back into your hair and making it strong again - you can get it here. Everyone's hair is different, so it might be worth booking a consultation to see which of their products is best suited to your hair.

I'm currently loving Origins skincare - it's really light and refreshing - and the products are all natural, so I find they don't irritate my skin. The Refreshing Scrub Cleanser is perfect for when you get off the flight and want to brighten up your skin. I also LOVE Nuxe's Micellar Cleansing Water for removing my make-up or any build up, M&S offer it in a travel size which is great for popping your hand luggage!

Recently I've been using Arbonne's Hydrating Body Cream - it smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling super soft, so it will definitely be coming with me to the Big Apple. For perfume, you simply can't beat CHANCE by CHANEL.

Tip: you can take an empty water bottle through the airport, which can later be filled up in duty free or on the plane! (I only discovered this when I was on a long-haul flight to Aus, but it's a life saver and means you don't have to keep asking the flight attendant for cups of water)
